Case study 1
The client wanted to sublet 1 half of 1 floor within their main offices to a third party, the main obstacle involved were 4 x existing communication cabinet located in the main office they wanted to let out. So future projects were called in to come up with a solution which had to be completed over 1 x weekend.
After an extensive survey we found there to be 528 category 6 data ports terminated onto 22 x 24 way category 6 patch panels all of which had to be relocated to a riser cupboard 65 meters away where the original cables came up from the basement communications room, and terminated within 2 x new 45u floor standing cabinets.
We started work on the Friday evening and worked through to Sunday, the first phase was to indentify all of the cabling before cutting the cables from the patch panels and removing them from the cabinet, the next stage was to cut the cabling back to the riser and remove all of the cabling from the main floor area.
Phase 2 a team then had to loom the cables in to the cabinet and terminate all of the cabling back onto the existing patch panels, while these works were being carried out, another team had to pull in and terminate 1 x new 300 pair cw1308 voice cable and 1 x 8 core 62.5/125 OM1 multimode fiber optic cable from the communications room located in the basement to the new cabinet within the riser cupboard.
The final phase was to test all of the category 6 cabling, voice link and fiber optic link utilizing a fluke dtx 1800 category 6/ fiber tester.
